I work with schools in different ways.
We partner with schools by offering guest sessions either on a one-time or semester-long basis.
I am also happy to be a guest lecturer to talk about my experiences working as an architect from detailing office buildings to being in charge of country-wide projects.
There are also ready-to-use lesson plans and materials available for teachers along with worksheets for students. The lesson plans can be tailored to the focus of the class within a specific framework.
To follow are some examples of how we have worked with teachers in the past:
I was invited to speak in my daughter’s third grade class to talk to the young students in 3rd grade about what I do as an architect. That led to a semester long Town Planning class where I joined the class every Friday and developed a program, a map of the town and the students made a model of their town. The students had a great time and I was impressed with what they accomplished.
Due to the popularity of the class, I began to teach an after-school program at the same school for a year.
I worked with a teacher who taught history in high school. He asked me to join him for the semester to go through the history of architecture and design to supplement his course.
Another high school teacher invited me into his class during lessons on geometry. For the class, the students did drawings of a house using the principles of geometry in their designs.
